چکیده
Background: Clubfoot is the commonest musculoskeletal congenital deformity affecting foot. The idiopathic variety most common type and worldwide agreed treatment method Ponseti method. In bilateral cases, feet may have different anthropometric characteristics. These differences were evaluated in this study. Objective: To assess effect of parameters legs (Calf circumference, foot length, degrees cavus, adduction equinus Pirani score) a child with clubfoot on outcome recurrence deformity.Method: This was prospective study that analyzed patients aged 0-5 years treated using Technique at Federal Medical Center, Umuahia from October 2019 to September 2020. scores, lengths feet, calf circumferences measured initial presentation, commencement bracing 3 months after treatment. measurements then compared. Results: A total 47 participated male preponderance. right circumference length consistently bigger than left each measurement; these statistically significant. significantly worse presentation. Thirty-six (76.6%) had same score both anthropometry did not predict number casts needed correct deformity, need for tenotomy nor deformity. Conclusion: Although there lower limb children clubfoot, they correction recurrence.

متن کاملComparison of cast materials for the treatment of congenital idiopathic clubfoot using the Ponseti method: a prospective randomized controlled trial.
BACKGROUND The Ponseti method of congenital idiopathic clubfoot correction has traditionally specified plaster of Paris (POP) as the cast material of choice; however, there are negative aspects to using POP. We sought to determine the influence of cast material (POP v. semirigid fibreglass [SRF]) on clubfoot correction using the Ponseti method. METHODS Patients were randomized to POP or SRF b...
